by / Monday, 01 August 2016 / Published in Artists

Ya La’ford is a professor, muralist, installation artist, and community advocate who creates art interlaced with messages of connection and explores the human experience at all levels.

Ya La’ford has a Juris Doctor law degree from the University of Florida, as well as a MFA from The Art Institute of Boston. She describes herself as an “artivist”, and recently won the MUSE Arts Ambassador Award at the third annual MUSE Benefit for the Arts in recognition of how well she represents the “City of the Arts” to the world. She hopes to shine light into dark spaces bringing a sense of hope through her art and imagery.

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum and The City of St. Petersburg will be leading the way for “Time Capsule Healing” when they open La’ford’s “Quantum Inhabited Space” installation on March 14, 2019. They will read the messages held in a time capsule with wishes, hopes and dreams inked on paper by neighborhood youth.
