Fine artist, Bekky Beukes, is originally from South Africa and immigrated to the US in 2014. Beukes paints expressive and sublime forms that tangle and weave themselves together on canvases and walls. Her style is easily recognizable and absolutely unforgettable.
Beukes is known for her emotionally charged art style, exploring chaotic interactions between light and dark. Gazing upon her work can be a meditative experience for the viewer. If you had to sum up her work in one word it would be ethereal. One could get happily lost for hours while scanning all the twist and turns of the forms she paint.
You can view her work all over the Tampa Bay area on walls and in gallery exhibitions, including at her studio in Ybor City. It is a special treat to be able to view her work up close, and really take in all of the beautiful details. Beukes intensely communicates her triumphs and failures through symbolizing the endless cycle of rebirth and destruction. As she puts it, “The dark storms actually present something valuable”.
